Baby girl came before I could even get our materni

Baby girl came before I could even get our maternity pictures back and share a couple of them. These came out sooo good. I’m glad I chose to do an outside session this time and I’m glad the rain stayed away so that it could happen!

A little over 3 weeks ago we welcomed this sweet b

A little over 3 weeks ago we welcomed this sweet baby girl into our lives. It still feels surreal to us that we have a daughter. Her big brothers are smitten as well. Welcome, baby girl! 💖

We will need a new SUV or a minivan… eventually.

We will need a new SUV or a minivan… eventually. Our SUV is a midsized one. And unless we’re able to fit all 3 kids going 3 across in the second row, the oldest kid will have to sit in the 3rd row with his booster seat. It doesn’t leave us much trunk space and neither of us are thrilled about that.

We also don’t necessarily like the mechanics of him getting to the 3rd row long term since our second row is a full seat row and not captain chairs.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The other dilemma: we can’t quite agree on which SUV or minivan to get next. BUT we have some time to figure it out. That’s the good thing. Besides, when we had our first child, he came home in a Honda Accord Coupe. So at least we have a 4 door vehicle this time around! 😆

Our budget has changed in preparing for baby # 3.

Our budget has changed in preparing for baby # 3. What’s been the most affected so far is our investing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After paying off our mortgage, we opened a brokerage account. We paid off the mortgage at the beginning of 2021 and met our goal for the brokerage account. We actually exceeded our goal by 50% last year.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Well, we started 2022 off with being pregnant with baby # 3. So we knew we needed to make some changes. After some discussion, we decided to contribute less to our brokerage account. In comparison to last year’s goal, we’ve only reached 5% so far because we stopped contributing altogether.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, a 401k is about to be maxed out soon, so we will pick back up with contributing to the brokerage account soon.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If all goes as planned, we’re hoping to hit at least 23% of what we did last year.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It kind of sucks knowing that we haven’t been contributing anything to it in this market. But the bright side is that we were still contributing to 2 401k’s with good matches (until I quit my job), 2 Roth IRA’s and 2 529 accounts for the kids. Not to mention the HSA that obviously needed to have money in it as well.

Lesson to be learned: You have to know how to pivot when it comes to life and budgeting.

I quit my job at the end of April and it’s been great so far.

Why did I quit?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The TL; DR version is: It was a compromise between Omar and I when it came to having another baby. Some people might feel a way about this, but at the end of the day, our marriage of 10 years and relationship of almost 20 years has survived off of lots of communication, compromise, and comprehension. This is how we have managed to do everything we’ve set out to do. And this phase of life is no different.
